We hope you're ready for some great programs coming up. On deck this month is the PASS speednetworking event in Costa Mesa on February 23rd. It's already sold out, but we're happy to make room for you on the standby list. Two events in March are filled with builder speakers, designed to give you INSIGHT into current and future building and development trends. You asked for more education and our first workshop is targeted at construction quality and best practices. Sponsorship opportunities are available at a range of price points to fit your budget. Want to do something unique? Partner with BIA for a specific event or marketing blast? We're here to help you maximize your membership dollars! More information is available online at www.biaoc.com or call the dedicated OC events line at 949.224.0321.

  • Extension of fee deferral programs in Irvine, Tustin, County of Orange, OCSD, Anaheim Union High School District, and many more.
  • Saving $10,000 per unit costs in building code requirements for local fire hazard maps.

For 2012, we look to your thoughts for government affairs priorities. Please take a moment to complete this short survey (eight questions) on the government affairs issues that matter most to you. You will be entered to win a $100 gift certificate toward Angels Baseball.

Member Spotlight

Tony Ditteaux

How did you first get involved with the BIA?
I have been a member of the BIA off and on for years and with different companies.  I was invited to join the 2012 Board of Directors this year by Mike McCann and I am very excited about the opportunity.

What was your first job in the building industry?
My first job in the building industry was framing houses during summer break back in college.  I was in Architecture School at the time and really wanted to learn how things were actually built.

What are the trends you're seeing in the multi-family and urban infill sector?
Multi-Family projects are becoming more and more sophisticated. Today's customer expects resort style pools, outdoor living and entertaining spaces, state-of-the-art fitness centers that offer Yoga and Spin classes, dry-cleaning, and all the services and amenities of a luxury hotel.

What is the best feedback or advice you've received from a homebuyer?
The best feedback I received was that our architecture and design was some of the best.   I have to thank the talented firms we work with for really thinking outside the box.

What is the most exciting project you have coming soon?
Oak Springs Ranch Apartments in Wildomar.  It's been a decade since we initially started this project due to the complex regulatory issues in California and more recently the economy and access to construction funding.

In honor of Presidents' Day, who is your favorite historical US President?
George Washington.  The ultimate decision maker and visionary.

What is your favorite bar/restaurant in the OC?
Gulfstream.

What was the last concert you attended?
Black Eyed Peas.

What is your favorite OC charity event you've attended?
“Team Duke” Events are always great.  My wife's family started “Team Duke” and the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.  The JWCF supports cancer research, awareness programs, and education at the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
